Abstract:
The present research analyzes the theme of the outreach program of archives,
observing as an empirical field the document exhibitions held by the Serviço de Arquivo
Histórico e Institucional of the Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa. It is an initiative that makes
available to the public visitor part of the documents that comprise the archival collection
guarded by the institution. Archival literature indicates that the gathering of documents in
expository narratives allows the expansion of the dissemination and popularization of these
archives. Therefore, this research proposes to carry out a diagnosis that understands how
these document exhibitions are organized, in addition to highlighting some of their main
characteristics. Possible ways of improving and enhance these activities will be identified,
resulting in the proposition of guidelines for the promotion of exhibitions at the institution.
To make the research objectives feasible, it was used, essentially, the documental analysis
of the technical and administrative records produced by the Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa
plus a bibliographic survey.
