Abstract:
The research aimed to revisit and systematize the process of conception and installation
of the cultural center called Instituto Casa Roberto Marinho (or Casa Roberto Marinho), which
opened in 2018 and, since then, has enabled the public to access the art collection and the former
home of the entrepreneur after whom the private cultural equipment that is the subject of this
study was named. This dissertation resulted in an academic product in the format of a manual,
in which I organized the necessary steps for the structuring of private cultural centers, especially
the legal requirements, in addition to recommendations of good practices to be adopted for the
functioning of similar cultural centers. With the present study, I sought to encourage other
individuals to be protagonists in the promotion of cultural goods and services, regardless of the
expected governmental action in this regard. Throughout the writing, by means of
bibliographic, documentary, and iconographic research, concepts were developed to legally
classify the works of the abovementioned art collection relating them to its social function
fulfilled through the access of visitors to such collection. The main stages of the process of
establishing Casa Roberto Marinho were also analyzed and organized, and its social role in the
promotion of cultural goods and services as per the Brazilian Constitution of 1988 was
discussed.
