Abstract:
The paper presents the results of a research project on the prison of Ilha Grande
and the reports of contemporary residents. The islands were visited with the pur
pose of interviewing the residents and registering their memories through oral his
tory methodology. These choices are based on the escape routes of prisoners and
how people react to this fact. The oral history manuals of José Carlos Sebe Meihy
and Verena Alberti were used as theoretical-practical support of the proposed
methodological approach.
