Abstract:
Since its introduction in daily life, about the twenties, the radio has been changing daily routines, molding tastes and bringing the last news from the civilized world to inside home. The radio is considered a powerful media which influence was decisive to frame the daily life of a great part of Brazilian society during the twentieth century.
The main propose of this research is to develop a social history of Brazilian radio between 1923 and 1960, through different types of historical sources such as: specialized magazines, oral accounts and the radio-programming grid. In this approach is considered the role played by this medium in the organization of
urban culture in Brazilian contemporary society by analyzing the organization of radio broadcasting, radio journalism and the popular shows.
