Abstract:
This exploratory and qualitative quantitative research develops a technical-scientific
product with the objective of contributing to the preservation of the documents of permanent
custody of the Brotherhood of the Santíssimo Sacramento of the Candelária. It is sought,
through the conservation diagnosis, to answer the question formulated that aims to verify the
appropriateness of the measures recommended by preventive conservation, specifically in the
methodology of document packaging. Research is not limited to diagnosis as a specific
objective. In parallel, carries out a bibliographic research on the subject of document
packaging and also uses as a methodology, technical visits to institutions recognized for their
work in the preservation of documents and books. In the general objectives, it describes the
institution's performance history and demonstrates the performance of the Institution's
archive, which is not limited to serving its producer. Clarification is also sought regarding the
concept of preservation. It dedicates a chapter on the preservation of ecclesiastical archives,
category that includes the archives of religious brotherhoods. The information collected and
analyzed by means of the diagnosis made in the Brotherhood's file and together with the other
specific objectives allow to present a proposal for improvements with recommendations and
guidelines for the preservation of documents.
